Gym Classes

I designed these posters for my local gym. I kept them simple, with a sporty - yet not too masculine - typeface. For Pilates, I used the shape of the exercise ball which is regularly used in the class. For Legs, Bums & Tums I decided to make it less serious and give the shape of a bum. And finally, for Body Blitz I decided to use the iconic image of a heartbeat sensor - as the class increases fitness and cardio levels.
Aung San Suu Kyi shiny print

I used a grey, shiny ink on light grey paper to emphasize the idea that Aung San Suu Kyi is almost invisible to the rest of the world. Held under house arrest for 14 years (and to this day) by the military junta in Burma, she is the General Secretary for the National League for Democracy.
Scientific Typefaces

These are some of ideas I've been coming up with for further development of the scientific principles brief. I want to develop each theory Newton's theory of gravity, Darwin's theory of evolution, Copernicus' theory of the planets, Archimedes' displacement of water, electricity and the Pythagorean theory of right angled triangles into a typeface.
For the theory of gravity, I've taken Futura LT Medium Regular (just because I like it) and moved anchor points on the type down - as if there was a stronger gravitational pull on each letter.
For Archimedes' displacement of water theory I've looked at common diagrams that explain the theory and created a grid from which the type is created. I think the idea still needs more development, as the type doesn't really represent the theory, it is simply created by representations of it.
I could think about ways of creating the typefaces by using the actual theories and processes behind them. For example, I could use something electrical to create an electricity typeface.
Illumination Bath 3 Day Project
This is a projection created as an initial idea for the Illuminate Bath festival. The idea is based on kinetic energy and light, the kinetic energy being the water/light flowing through the radiator. We played around for hours trying to get it all lined up, and eventually managed to make it look good without having to map out the animation to fit the radiator. Using flash, we (Doops Dunk) created a simple animation with vertical bars - which was then projected onto the radiator. This idea could be taken further for the Illuminate Bath festival in October/November.
